Lula Cocina Mexicana on Main Street in Santa Monica, has been one of my – and my family’s – favorite restaurants for over 15 years. Outside of the fact that I believe in my heart that their margaritas are THE best in town – particularly “The Geraldine” which is named after the owner – Lula hits all of your senses and is one of the happiest and friendliest places you will find in L.A. 🙂 For someone like myself who LOVES color, Lula envelops you. The art is kitschy and cool, the energy is vibrant without being overwhelming and the staff is fabulous, many whom have been there forever… yes Raffi, I am talking about you!

Their Happy Hour is great and runs daily starting at 1 pm (and yes, I said 1 pm!) and ends at 7 pm with food and beverages starting at $4. Parking is easy anywhere on Main St… lots of metered parking on the street or in back of Lula and affordable lots scattered throughout Main Street. The menu at Lula is extensive and delish… we usually get some nachos, soup or salads and we are full!

Lula is a great place to go with kids if you are visiting Santa Monica. Main Street is one of my favorite places in the City because it is unique and easy. It is “Old” Santa Monica, has way less “attitude” than nearby Abbot Kinney and is just blocks from the Beach.

The Yelp reviews are extensive and wonderful so don’t waste your precious travel time over-thinking “where should we eat”. If Santa Monica is a destination for you or you are new to the area, make Lula as much a favorite for you as it is for me. 🙂 In fact, we just celebrated my daughters 30th birthday at Lula.
