The Getty

The Getty Museum is a favorite destination for people visiting Los Angeles and a favorite for me as well. Located in the Sepulveda pass along the 405 freeway on a hilltop in The Santa Monica Mountains, the drive to The Getty it is very easy and beautiful – if you ignore the traffic, of course. Parking is a snap, as there is only one underground parking structure. However you’ll need to take a tram up the hill (which of course, will be extremely fun for kids!) but once you get up there, you are in another world! The vistas are stunning! There are Garden Tours, Architectural Tours, Exhibition Tours… or you can walk it alone and do it at your own pace! Admission to the museum is always free! For a wealth of images from The Getty’s collection that you can look at online or download for your own use go to http://www.getty.edu/art/collection/ . If you get hungry – and who won’t – your choices will be either the Cafeteria or the ‘The Restaurant’, where dinner is available only on Friday and Saturday nights. Both locations are equally wonderful yet very different. From elegant and fine dining, to a casual and laid back atmosphere, the food is all locally sourced with super healthy ingredients! The presentation is always impeccable, served up in a very creative and arty way along with unsurpassed views!
