Sapori
Sapori is located smack dab in the middle of one of the best kept secrets in Los Angeles – Fisherman’s Village – and it IS a hidden gem! If you are looking for a small, romantic, quiet restaurant, something that is NOT slick, over-styled or a “chain”, Sapori might be just what you are looking for. In fact, once you arrive you might swear you are in New England. There are 7 basins in The Marina and Sapori sits right on the Main Channel, which is located at the end of Admiralty Way, just down on Fiji – so the water views are fabulous! The sail boats are in and out and the sounds of the seagulls are magical. There is a lighthouse, a resident sea lion or two, some cute little shops and the pelicans overhead always put on quite a show. Sapori is also a great lunch destination, in particular on the weekends because there is live music in the courtyard! Summer hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm – 5pm and 1pm – 4pm during the winter months.
Stefano, the owner, is usually in the house… unless he’s in Italy – but be forewarned, he is a very colorful character! With that in mind, he makes the restaurant even more colorful! The food is good but on a beautiful day everything tastes better – if you like a Caesar Salad you should order it chopped! For some reason it’s better! The Beet Salad is great as are the Baked Baby Eggplants. Note the dessert picture… lemon sorbet served in a lemon! It’s insane! I must admit, I come here fairly often for lunch because I work in The Marina. There is no official Happy Hour at Sapori, but I still come here after work – just for the sunsets… which in winter are particular breathtaking! Almost every night is magic hour! It’s great… if you like that kind of thing
